A Few of My Favorite Things

When you have as many paper files much clutter as I have, and you go through it box by box, you find things you had forgotten about.  Like lists. I am quite the list maker.  I like making a list before I start a project, or go shopping, or head out to run errands. I also love drawing a line through the items on the list. Such a sense of accomplishment!

I have rediscovered a few lists that I find interesting. Then there are others that could have been tossed long ago, but then if I was into doing that, I wouldn’t have so much clutter.

One list topic I have used more than once is “My Favorite Things”.  I’m glad I saved some of these lists. They give me insight into who I was back then. Like when I lived in Kansas and was planning my move to California.  Like when I lived in San Diego and was attending the Berkeley Psychic Institute to develop my clairvoyant abilities. Like when I lived in Marin County (across the bridge from San Francisco) and was so incredibly broke. Like…. ok, the “like when” is getting annoying so I’m stopping that.

Anyway, here are some current favorites:

Nature (green trees, grass, a babbling brook, hearing the wind through the leaves of the trees, a path through the woods.)  My cats, Kirby and Daisy. Puppies.  Movies. (Just saw Russell Crowe in Robin Hood today, two thumbs up!)  Historical novels, especially set in Medieval times.  Chocolate (especially York Peppermint Patties which is my emergency my-blood-sugar-is-low remedy).  Coke Zero and Vitamin Water (especially lemon and orange, which reminds me of how Tang used to taste).  Laughing! How could I have listed so many things before typing that.  Laughing is primo!  Laughing with friends is the best.  Candlelight from a scented candle. Classical music. Opera (not all of it, I have my favorites, I guess that would be a sub-category thing).  Jazz. Music that reminds me of fun times.  The color turquoise especially to wear (both clothing and jewelry).  Cheeseburgers.  Singing. Rocking a baby.  Coffee with hazelnut-flavored creamer. The feel of velvet and silk and satin. A freshly-made bed. The beauty of this present moment.

Ah, how very magical to reflect on favorite things.
